States of Consciousness: You Are Not Stuck — You’re Just in a State

One of Neville Goddard’s most liberating teachings is this:

“You are not your state.”

In other words — you are not your depression.
You are not your anxiety.
You are not your financial situation.
You are not even your current self-image.

You are the operant power — consciousness itself — and all you’re ever doing is moving through states.

When you truly understand this, everything becomes flexible. Fluid. Alive.


What Is a State of Consciousness?

A state is simply a way of being — a lens through which you perceive yourself and the world.

  • There’s a state where you feel confident and magnetic.

  • There’s a state where you feel unworthy and overlooked.

  • There’s a state where you feel peaceful and connected to life.

States carry thoughts, emotions, reactions, and assumptions.
Each state has its own “reality bubble.”

But none of them are you.

You are the one who observes.
The one who moves.
The one who chooses.

You Cannot Change Reality — Until You Change State

People try to change the 3D world without ever shifting their inner state.
They beg for love while still dwelling in the state of “unlovable.”
They affirm abundance while still reacting from the state of “lack.”

It never works.

Neville said:

“Do not try to change people — they are only messengers telling you who you are. Revalue yourself, and they will confirm the change.”

So don’t try to fix the outer world.
Instead, move into a new state — and the world will rearrange itself accordingly.


How to Shift States

  1. Acknowledge the current state without judgment.
    “I see I’m in a state of fear / doubt / loneliness.”

  2. Choose the new state you desire.
    Example: Loved, safe, wealthy, chosen, successful.

  3. Enter it through imagination.

    • Imagine a scene that would be true if you were already in that state.

    • Feel its truth. Dwell there.

  4. Maintain it through your reactions.
    When something triggers you, respond as your new self would.
    This is what Neville meant by “living in the end.”

Why You’re Never Stuck

Feeling stuck is just… being loyal to an old state.

It’s not personal. It’s not fate.
You’re simply identifying with a version of yourself that no longer serves you.

But you can move.
Right now. In this very moment.

Close your eyes.
Feel yourself in the new state.
Let it wrap around you like clothing.

And refuse to drop it.


You Don’t Have to Deserve a State — You Just Have to Enter It

That’s the grace of this work.
You don’t have to “earn” love or prove you’re good enough for wealth.

You only need to enter the state of the one who already has it.

And if you can do that — and persist — the world must reflect it.

Because consciousness is the only cause.

You are not broken.
You’re not late.
You’re not cursed or forgotten.
